Longtime Oregon commitment Dontre Wilson, the No. 55 player in the ESPN 150, has dumped the Ducks for Ohio State.
His high-profile change of heart, while it might have happened in any event, will naturally be attached to Chip Kelly leaving Oregon for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Wilson is listed as an athlete but he was likely to play running back for the Oregon, which is a need position for the Ducks. The good news for Oregon is it still has a commitment from running back Thomas Tyner, the No. 54 overall player, and it also has a commitment from Kani Benoit, though Benoit isn't highly rated. The Ducks need to replace Kenjon Barner, who rushed for 1,767 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2012.
Wilson, a DeSoto (Texas) running back/wide receiver hybrid, had more than 2,600 total yards and 46 touchdowns in 2012. He announced his decision on Dallas-area television Monday night.
