On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.
I got some feedback and it sounds like you all are in favor of every Wednesday being "depth chart day." So here they are. Updated depth charts, for 11 of the 12 teams. (note: UCLA doesn't release a depth chart).
Arizona State (page 13 of the game notes).
California (page 9 of the game notes).
Oregon (page 5 of the game notes).
Oregon State (page 16 of the game notes).
USC (page 14 of the game notes).
Utah (page 10 of the game notes).
Washington (page 9 of the game notes).
Washington State (page 11 of the game notes).
Each week I'll try to go through them (the ones that are available) and point out any notable changes.
Anu Solomon no longer has an "or" next to his name. I think we can all file that one under "duh."
There is still an "or" between the three Oregon running backs. Just an FYI.
JuJu Smith moves into the USC starting lineup at WR opposite Nelson Agholor, who is also listed first at kick returns, not just punt returns. Chris Hawkins is listed as the starter in the spot previously occupied by Josh Shaw.
At Utah, Kaelin Clay has moved into the starting 'H' wide receiver spot and will handle kickoffs and punts. Uh... yeah!. Dominique Hatfield has worked his way into the conversation at corner and Sese Ianu moves from nose tackle to defensive tackle (with an or around iliseni Fauonuku).
Some shuffling at WSU with Riley Sorenson (C) and Eduardo Middleton (RG) moving into the lineup. Jamal Morrow gets the nod at running back and Daquawn Brown (CB) is switching sides. Charleston White will be on the other side with Darius Lemora moving from backup FS to starting SS. Taylor Taliulu (FS) is the only one in the secondary not on the move.
The latest polls are out, and our Kyle Bonagura gave you a pretty good breakdown on the AP poll here.
Here are the Pac-12 teams that are ranked. We'll list AP first and the coaches' poll second.
We are one week into the season, which means we’re already at full-blown Heisman hype. Last week we brought you the preseason straw poll from Heismanpundit.com, which had Marcus Mariota in the lead. Oh how things can change in a week.
The newest straw poll is out and preseason leader Marcus Mariota dropped from first to third (if only he’d accounted for five touchdowns instead of four!)
Here’s how the 10-member panel sees things through the first week:
1. Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia — 23 (5)
2. Kenny Hill, QB, Texas A&M — 14 (2)
3. Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon — 13 (3)
4. Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State — 5
5. (tie) Ameer Abdullah, RB, Nebraska — 1
Tyreek Hill, RB, Oklahoma State — 1
Eric Kendricks, LB, UCLA — 1
Jordan Westerkamp, WR, Nebraska — 1
Taysom Hill, QB, BYU — 1
Normally it takes a couple of weeks for a Pac-12 player to tumble all the way down, so things are progressing faster than usual this season.
It's nice to see Kendricks on the list, though.
The Arizona Daily Star guys talk about Anu Solomon's performance.
ASU's defense gets high marks for Game 1.
The Golden Bears have another quarterback who is impressing Sonny Dykes.
Colorado's young defensive ends will have to learn on the job.
Oregon's offensive tackles are preparing for tough Michigan State D.
Some Stanford news and notes.
Washington DB coach Jimmy Lake talks secondary.
Just for fun
A hearty congrats from the Pac-12 blog to Andy Phillips. Welcome to the club.
