USC says it's sorry
By ESPN.com staff
Who says USC can't be humble?
The Trojans have apologized for falsely accusing a number of schools of tampering with touted freshman running back Dillon Baxter, including Florida -- coached by Lane Kiffin's old buddy, Urban Meyer -- and Alabama.
Wrote athletic director Mike Garrett:
"I have spoken with Mr. Baxter and he has now confirmed that he did not receive a call from your institution," Garrett wrote to Moore. "Therefore, USC has no intention of pursuing this matter further.
"I apologize for any inconvenience or embarrassment this matter has caused to you and your institution."
ESPN.com was unable to confirm if Garrett included this in his message.
