Stanford gets offense when it needs it
By Ted Miller
Stanford struggled, but it beat Arizona State 17-13 and kept its Rose Bowl hopes alive.
Not unlike Oregon against California, the Cardinal relied on it defense until the offense came around with a clutch fourth-quarter drive.
The dramatically-improved Stanford defense held the Sun Devils to just 268 yards, and quarterback Andrew Luck led a 10-play, 85-yard drive for the winning touchdown.
It was Stanford's first win in Tempe since 1999. And the Cardinal improved to 9-1 for the first time since 1951.
