Two Washington tailbacks -- David Freeman and Brandon Johnson -- have been ruled ineligible for academic reasons and won't play for the Huskies in 2009, Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reported.

The Times also reported that running back Brandon Yakaboski "suffered a setback recently in his recovery from knee surgery and is likely out for the season."

It's never good to lose players, particularly three at one position, but none of these three emerged from spring practices particularly high on the crowded depth chart.

Chris Polk and Willie Griffin are the frontrunners to start at running back, with Demetrius Bronson and Curtis Shaw also in the mix.
