Poll: Who is on upset alert this weekend?
By Kevin Gemmell
On Monday, Ted gave you peek at some of the big games coming up in the second half of the season. And whenever we're talking about big games, it always makes for a good upset alert poll.
This weekend, three of the four ranked teams have matchups that could have a significant impact on the divisional races and bowl placements. So are any of the conference's ranked teams on upset alert?
USC at Arizona: The Wildcats can move the football -- and last week they showed a stingy side to their defense by blanking the Huskies in the second half and holding them to 5-of-17 on third-down conversions. But the Trojans' passing game clicked in a big way last week. And, of course, USC has a pretty big game coming up next week. Any chance they are overlooking the Wildcats?
Colorado at Oregon: Speaking of that game next week, is Oregon looking too far ahead? And after all Colorado could ... I mean it might ... ah, heck, we just threw this one up to see if Ducks fans would vote without actually reading the poll (your Pac-12 bloggers can be stealthy like that).
Oregon State at Washington: The inconsistent Huskies haven't put up more than 21 points (against an FBS team) all season. But Sean Mannion hasn't been on the field for the Beavers for the past two weeks. Will there be some rust? Oregon State has put its best numbers up on the road, but CenturyLink is a tough place to play. Just ask Stanford. Could we see a second upset of a top-10 team on that field?
Washington State at Stanford: The Cardinal are coming off of back-to-back emotional games -- one outcome was bad, the other was good. Now they face a Washington State team that is big on yards, but not so much on points. Any chance the Cardinal secondary is bedazzled by the Air Raid?
