Marcus Mariota added to his Heisman Trophy resume against Washington.
Combine that with his work in the three previous quarters and you have a performance worthy of Heisman Trophy front-runner status as the Ducks rolled to a 45-24 road win over No. 16 Washington.

Mariota completed 24 of 31 passes for 366 yards and three touchdowns and rushed 13 times for 88 yards and a score. Mariota has scored at least one touchdown in the air and on the ground in every game this season, and that streak extends to eight games going back to 2012.

For the season, he’s accounted for 25 touchdowns (17 passing, eight rushing) with zero turnovers. The 454 yards of total offense moved him into Oregon’s top 10 in career total yards -– ahead of Jeremiah Masoli and Akili Smith.

The reaction from Washington coach Steve Sarkisian -– whose Huskies have now dropped 10 in a row to the Ducks –- summed it up.

"I don't have a Heisman vote, but I'd be hard-pressed to say we'll see a better quarterback this year," Sarkisian said. "That guy is special. I don't know when he is planning on going to the NFL, but when he does, I think he'll be a top-five draft pick.

“... He threw the ball extremely well, and when we covered him, he ran. We tried to spot him. We tried to blitz him. We tried to contain him. But he played a tremendous game.”
