Oregon signs three JC players

Oregon has signed three junior college players who could bolster the lines on both sides of the ball.

The three signees are: offensive lineman Ryan Clanton (Bakersfield, Calif./CC of San Francisco), defensive lineman Isaac Remington (Chandler, Ariz./Phoenix JC) and tight end Brandon Williams (Beaumont, Texas/Joliet JC, Ill.).

All three will begin classes in January and will be eligible to participate in spring practices.

The Ducks lose only four seniors off of the current defensive depth chart, but three are on the defensive line, including tackle Blake Ferras and end Will Tukuafu. Remington, who redshirted in the JC ranks and has two years of remaining eligibility, should immediately compete for a spot in the rotation.

Williams, a touted receiver who reportedly possesses 4.5 speed, could ease the impending departure of All-Pac-10 tight end Ed Dickson and push the likes of young TEs Dion Jordan and David Paulson. Like Remington, he also has two years to play two.

The current offensive line returns intact in 2010, but Clanton could provide immediate depth and challenge for a starting spot in the future. He has "true junior status," meaning he has three years remaining to play two and could redshirt next fall.
