Stanford hires defensive coordinator

It appears that Stanford hired two defensive coaches but ended up with only one.

First, Jim Harbaugh reportedly has picked up a cast-off from his brother, Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh, to be the Cardinal's new defensive coordinator: Vic Fangio, the former Ravens linebackers coach.

It also was reported that Harbaugh had hired former Georgia defensive coordinator Willie Martinez to coach the Cardinal secondary. But it appears Martinez has been poached by Oklahoma.

Harbaugh previously hired Randy Hart to coach Stanford's defensive line.

Stanford has yet to confirm any hires, though it's likely Harbaugh will speak on his reconstructed staff -- he had five offseason vacancies -- on national signing day Wednesday.
