Arizona signs lineman from far, far away
By ESPN.com staff
Arizona went all the way to the island of American Samoa to sign a 21st member of its 2010 recruiting class.
Aiulua Fanene is a 6-foot-4 and 280 pounds two-way lineman from Tafuna High School. He played in the Samoa-Hawaii All-Star Bowl and later in the USA Football event in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., in connection with the NFL's Pro Bowl.
Fanene's brother, Jonathan, plays for the Cincinnati Bengals. Aiulua Fanene was recruited by defensive line coach Mike Tuiasosopo, who knows the Fanene family after recruiting the older brother to Utah from College of the Canyons in 2003 while an assistant for the Utes.
