Washington linebacker recruit Darius Waters is headed to Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz., after failing to qualify academically, the Seattle Times reported.
Waters, ranked as the No. 50 defensive end in the nation by ESPN.com's Scouts Inc., was one of three players from Lakes (Wash.) High School to sign with the Huskies. He's the second member of the 2010 class to reportedly fail to meet NCAA academic standards. The first was fellow linebacker Chris Young.
Waters told the Times that his plan is to play two years at Arizona Western then transfer to Washington.
