The Eagles’ 24-21 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, an NFC playoff contender, was enough to nudge them into the top 10 in this week’s NFL Power Rankings. It is the Eagles’ highest ranking of the season, as it should be. There wasn't much disagreement: Five of the six panelists had the Eagles 10th, while the other had them at No. 11. They are making incremental progress at just the right time of the season.
Five weeks ago, the Eagles were 3-5 and ranked 26th by the ESPN.com panel. Four consecutive wins (and one bye week) later, they are in that second echelon of contending teams -- not among the Seahawks and Broncos, but well above the teams jostling for draft position.
Three of the Eagles’ four remaining games are against teams in that same neighborhood. They face the No. 12 Detroit Lions at home on Sunday, the No. 15 Chicago Bears at home on Dec. 22 and the No. 11 Dallas Cowboys on the road on Dec. 29.
