Bookmakers not bullish on Steelers

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers' 6-2 finish in 2013 has generated a lot of optimism for next season.

Just don't count the Las Vegas bookmakers among those who expect the Steelers to make a run at a seventh Super Bowl title.

The Steelers have been given 40/1 odds of winning the 2015 Super Bowl along with the Ravens, Cowboys, Giants, Texans, Chargers, Rams, Lions and Redskins.

The Bengals are 25/1 odds, according to the Vegas bookmakers, the best in the AFC North with the Browns at 75/1 to win next year's Super Bowl.

Here are the rest of the odds starting with the reigning Super Bowl champions:

  • Seahawks 7/1

  • Broncos 8/1

  • 49ers 8/1

  • Patriots 12/1

  • Packers 20/1

  • Saints 20/1

  • Falcons 25/1

  • Panthers 25/1

  • Colts 30/1

  • Chiefs 30/1

  • Eagles 30/1

  • Bears 30/1

  • Cardinals 30/1

  • Dolphins 50/1

  • Buccaneers 60/1

  • Titans 60/1

  • Jets 75/1

  • Bills 75/1

  • Vikings 100/1

  • Jaguars 200/1

  • Raiders 200/1

Obviously not a lot should be read into something that was handicapped less than 24 hours after confetti had stopping falling at MetLife Stadium following the Seahawks' 43-8 smack down of the Broncos.

Vegas' odds for the next Super Bowl winner are like mock drafts in that they are fun to read and generate chatter. But I don't think Mike Tomlin, Ben Roethlisberger & Co. are going to lose much sleep over getting tagged as long shots to win the next Super Bowl.
