Steelers focused on task at hand
By Scott Brown
Steel City wake-up morning links:
The Steelers are taking this one-game-a-time-thing so seriously that defensive end Brett Keisel said following their first win of the season he didn’t realize the Ravens were up next on the schedule. Chalk up another one for the strange but true department in a season that has followed a script few could have predicted at the beginning of September.
A 19-6 win against the Jets in East Rutherford, N.J., should have the Steelers feeling good about themselves when they host their rivals Sunday though time will ultimately judge whether the victory was a turning point or a Band-Aid.
The Steelers neutralized the Jets’ aggressive defense with a short passing attack devised by offensive coordinator Todd Haley and executed to near perfection by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
The Steelers may follow a similar plan of attack against the Ravens, who while not as formidable defensively as in past years still have Terrell Suggs. The outside linebacker is among the early NFL sack leaders with seven.
