Steelers sign CB from practice squad
By Scott Brown
PITTSBURGH -- The Steelers released veteran kicker Shayne Graham and promoted cornerback Isaiah Green to their 53-man roster from the practice squad.
Graham had been signed as insurance for Shaun Suisham, who sustained a minor hamstring injury in the Steelers’ season opener. Suisham played in the Steelers’ 20-10 loss at Cincinnati on Monday night, and he looked fine, drilling a 44-yard field goal for the first points of the game.
Green spent time on the Colts' and Bills' practice squads in 2012 before signing with the Steelers last January. The second-year man made the team after final cut-down on Aug. 31, but the Steelers cut him two days later when they signed former Jaguars cornerback Antwon Blake.
The Steelers have had depth issues at cornerback with Cortez Allen (ankle) and Curtis Brown (illness) each missing Monday night’s game.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Brown will be ready to play Sunday night against the visiting Chicago Bears.
The seventh-year coach said he is “optimistic” that Allen could also return to action though the Steelers won’t know more about Allen’s availability until later this week.
