There is small group outside of Wichita, Kan., that is bragging about picking Wichita State in their Final Four bracket.
There's likely an even smaller group of people who actually have significant money on the team. One of those people is Victor of Long Beach, Calif.
The day after the brackets were unveiled, Victor bet $10 that Wichita State would win it it. The odds: 750-to-1, which ESPN.com was able to confirm.
"I have been following them all year," Victor said.
Aside from the $10 bet on the Shockers, Victor said he put money on Georgetown to win the title and took his chances with an NBA long shot: the Denver Nuggets.
Victor said he doesn't bet often but does pretty well when he throws down a couple of bucks. Even though the Shockers are a 10-point underdog against Louisville on Saturday, he still thinks the yellow and black -- who beat Pittsburgh, Gonzaga, La Salle and Ohio State to reach Atlanta -- can prevail.
"They need to come out strong, which I think they will," Victor said. "This is a tough game, but I expect them to keep up."
Should Wichita State, a No. 9 seed, beat Louisville and then win the title, the team would best Villanova in 1985 (a No. 8 seed) as the lowest seed to win the NCAA tournament. It would also mean that Victor would pick up $7,500.
Confidence is nice, but Victor says he's thinking about hedging a little bit.
"The payout is so high, I want to lock some profit up," he said.
If the Shockers shock the world, Victor said he'll use the money toward a vacation or buying a classic car that he always wanted.
