Michael Jordan has informed Patrick Ewing that he will not be the head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats. This, of course, is the least surprising news ever.
Not because Ewing isn’t qualified for the job. He is.
But because it’s fairly likely that Jordan will use his coaching search as a means to humiliate his former basketball rivals.
Doubt it? Watch Jordan’s Hall of Fame induction speech again and then tell me it’s unlikely.
Bringing in Ewing and Bryon Russell and Karl Malone and Clyde Drexler and Charles Barkley and Gary Payton and every pitcher from the Double-A Southern League in 1994 for interviews, only to then inform them that they’re not good enough?
It would make Jordan’s year.
In fact, the only thing Jordan could do to his former rivals that would be more humiliating?
Tell them they're a perfect fit for the worst organization in the NBA.
