“With great power comes great irresponsibility.” — Rob Riggle

Last October, ESPN asked Rob Riggle to host the 2012 ESPYS (July 11, 9 p.m. ET). As is customary, the lifelong Kansas City sports fan was handed an all-access pass to the world of sports, and he used it. That custom has since been revoked — for reasons seen in these six snapshots of Rob’s tour through the biggest moments of the sports year.

GAME 7 OF THE 2011 WORLD SERIES

“I think this is me at one of the World Series games. Honestly, it’s kind of a blur. I think the Giants won — or maybe it was the Patriots. I still haven’t found my car.”

BRITTNEY GRINER THROWS DOWN A MONSTER DUNK IN THE SWEET 16

“Apparently there’s a fine line between supporting the Lady Bears with a kick-ass oversize novelty flag and ruining one of the greatest moments in the history of women’s sports for half the people in attendance. Noted. Still not sure I crossed it, though.”

BODEMEISTER FINISHES SECOND WITH ROOKIE RIDER ROB RIGGLE

“What began as a jockey and a celebrity bonding over Triple Crown & Cokes turned into this regrettable scene at the Preakness. I blame myself … He weighed too little to hang, I weighed too much to ride, and I suspect it cost us the race. Some glass ceilings are tougher to crack, and I definitely set the cause of robust jockeys back a bit.”
