Ever wish you could go back in time and reverse a life-changing decision?

That's exactly what the Reno Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, are doing with their "What Could Have Been Weekend" promotion.

The Reno franchise came into being in 2009 when the Tucson Sidewinders relocated to Nevada's second-largest city. Before the team began play, it held a contest to name the team.

Aces was the overwhelming winner.

But what if fans had opted for one of the other names that was considered? Beginning with Thursday's 8-7 win over the Salt Lake Bees, and continuing Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the team is trying a different moniker on for size -- the Reno Ghost Riders.

"Ghost Riders was one of the most popular other choices when we held the contest," said Aces spokesman T.J. Lasita. "This is a newer franchise's way of doing 'Turn Back the Clock Night.'"

Indeed, the team is wearing new uniforms -- similar to the fauxback uniforms the Tampa Bay Rays recently wore -- and unveiling a new mascot. Ghost Riders bobblehead dolls will be given away on Saturday, and the team will auction off game-used Ghost Riders uniforms on Sunday for charity.

While the logo of the Aces boasts a classic baseball look, the insignia of the Ghost Riders seems to have come straight out of left field.

"It's kind of a funky logo. This one's a little more out there [than the Aces logo]," Lasita said. "Some of the merchandise we're selling is glow in the dark."

Lasita said the Aces might consider doing another "What Could Have Been Weekend" next season, with Rails and Rattlers being two potential temporary nicknames. So is it possible the team might ponder abandoning the Aces nickname altogether?

As a wise man once said, "That's a negative, Ghost Rider."
