Andrew McCutchen answers our questions
By ESPN Playbook
"Mag Minute" is a regular feature in ESPN The Magazine. In the Money Issue, Andrew McCutchen spent some time talking to The Mag. Below is a transcript of the interview.
What’s the movie that you’ve seen more than any other? “Coming to America” with Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall. That’s my all-time favorite.
What is your hidden talent? I’m a somewhat good beat-boxer.
What was the best vacation you ever took. To Hawaii, the island Lanai. Hawaii is a nice place to be: neat buildings, beach, water, relaxation. You don’t have to worry about anything.
What song is stuck in your head these days? Anything by Flo Rida. His songs are pretty catchy, so I find myself singing them every now and then.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? “You never know how good you can possibly be. You just have to go out and play as if you were the best.”
What’s the most unusual item in your locker? PlayStation 3. My favorite game is Modern Warfare 3.
Is there a pro athlete you would want to trade places with? Ichiro. Just to see how his life is in a different country. He goes to Japan, and he’s pretty much like the emperor there. I’d like to see how that is.
If you could go to dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be and where would you go? Jackie Robinson – and we’d go wherever the heck he’d want to go. I’d have a lot of questions. I’d love to pick his brain.
