NFL looks to Craigslist to recruit referees

By Steve Etheridge

Since contract talks with the existing referees aren’t going anywhere, the NFL is looking to hire replacement officials for the 2012-13 season. Good luck to the league’s HR department on this one. After all, what sort of middle-aged man, eluded by athletic glory in his youth, would want to take the field in front of thousands of screaming fans, alongside some of the biggest sports superstars on the planet, and toot on a whistle in exchange for handsome compensation? Probably no one, but I’m sure Curt Schilling could scrounge up a few candidates.

Short of worthy prospects, ESPN Playbook's dubious sources uncovered the following NFL job listing on Craigslist. We found it under Missed Connections. Go figure.
