Breaking away from Michael Jordan and the legends who’ve graced the “NBA 2K” cover the past few years, 2K Sports announced Tuesday that Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, and Blake Griffin will appear on the cover of “NBA 2K13.”
“We picked three guys who we think are the most exciting future legends of the game,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing, 2K Sports. “They will all appear on one cover, all together. Last year we had three different covers, but this year we wanted all three guys together. It’s the new dynasty. It’s the next evolution of our cover. We’ve been pushing and changing our cover over the years, and this year will mark another exciting evolution.”
That doesn’t mean the legendary players and teams who have helped elevate the 2K series to best-seller status won’t be back, however, as you can expect more dunks and jams from Jordan and crew.
“Jordan will still be part of the game, he’s still part of the 2K family, but we wanted to make a really clear transition to the new dynasty and the new legends of the game,” Argent said. “All of those classic teams will appear in the game again, but our main focus moving forward puts the spotlight back on the current game.”
