If a school is represented in “NCAA Football 14,” then that team has a chance to be featured on the game’s cover. That’s the basis of the “NCAA 14” cover vote, as the preliminary rounds are all about deciding what school will be represented on the cover. What that means, exactly, is anyone’s guess at this point, as EA Sports hasn’t revealed its plans on whether we’ll see a player, a mascot, or maybe both appear on the front of the box.
But when it comes to the early voting returns, it’s about what you might expect, with Notre Dame leading all schools, and Oregon, LSU, Ohio State, and Texas A&M in hot pursuit of No. 1.
Thirty-two schools will advance to Round 2, and there is still plenty of time for fans of bubble teams to vote, as teams such as USC, South Carolina and Boise State are all fewer than 500 votes away from moving into the top 32.
Here’s how the official results stack up so far:
1. Notre Dame
4. Ohio State
5. Texas A&M
8. Kansas State
10. Penn State
11. Florida State
12. West Virginia
24. Oregon State
25. Georgia Tech
