Kenjon Barner on 'NCAA' vote, video games
By Jon Robinson
Kenjon Barner is one of eight candidates fans can vote for in the EA Sports “NCAA Football 14” cover vote. And to Barner, every vote his direction is another step toward making one of his biggest dreams come true.
Kenjon Barner led Oregon to 12 wins and a Fiesta Bowl victory in the 2012 season.
“As a kid, you always dream of being on a video game cover,” says the former Oregon running back. “Anyone who grew up playing video games, that’s always something you think about. It’s an absolute honor to be among those guys. For 18 years, I bought ‘NCAA,’ so to have the opportunity to actually appear on the cover, it’s a blessing.”
Barner flashed his video game skills on stage recently at Madden Bowl XIX, as he teamed with fellow NFL draft prospects Denard Robinson of Michigan and E.J. Manuel of Florida State to win the three-on-three online team play tournament in New Orleans.
And while Barner proved to be one of the best “Madden” gamers in the competition, he claims his true talent is playing as the Lakers in “NBA 2K13.”
“I play ‘NBA’ all day every day,” he says with a laugh. “Between that and ‘Call of Duty,’ those are my games. I can spend five or six hours playing those games and time just gets lost.”
