'GRID 2' adds SportsCenter to story mode

By Jon Robinson

Who is the greatest driver in the world? Could a driver with drifting discipline take down a street racer or even a professionally skilled open-wheel driver?

These are the types of questions Codemasters’ upcoming video game “GRID 2” attempts to answer with the new World Series Racing storyline, in which drivers of various disciplines will compete to see whose style reigns supreme.

According to Codemasters: “Patrick Callahan, entrepreneur and founder of World Series Racing, the fictional cross-discipline motor racing championship that runs throughout ‘GRID 2,’ has a vision: to bring drivers of different styles and specialism, from all over the world, together in a united league, one that will become a truly global phenomenon and which will finally find the ultimate driving superstar. But to set up a new motorsports series, and get the rewards he craves, he needs a star. And that’s where the player comes in.”

To help keep track of the action, “GRID 2” has teamed with ESPN to present live-action SportsCenter videos throughout the mode. Click on the video above to check out a taste of what “GRID 2” has to offer, along with commentary from ESPN’s Kevin Connors and Toby Moody.

“GRID 2” races into stores May 31 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
