• San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich last week was fined $250,000 by NBA commissioner David Stern for sending four key players home, including Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, before Thursday's Heat game. So this one can be put in the "bad timing" file.
Duncan and Parker showed some costumed anger at someone dressed as NBA referee Joey Crawford in this photo that surfaced on Reddit Saturday. The two Spurs -- Duncan was purportedly dressed as The Punisher while Parker was attempting to be Nick Fury -- went slightly "gangster" at a Halloween party and pointed their toy guns at this symbol of NBA authority, who also happens to be Duncan's longtime nemesis.
Safe to say, Stern is probably not impressed.
Perhaps Reddit's Cobruh summed it up best.
Can you say: "$8,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 fine"?
• Some regular-season NBA victories carry more weight than others. The Orlando Magic beat Dwight Howard and the Los Angeles Lakers 113-103 at Staples Center Sunday night. Howard, who left the Magic under turbulent circumstances in the offseason, didn't shake hands with his former teammates after the game and kept his postgame remarks to a minimum.
The Magic were a bit more emotional:
Sweet win. That's for Orlando. On to the next one!
