News that snowboarder, skateboarder and action-sports mogul Shaun White dished out $3.85 million in August for a three-bedroom, 3,500-square-foot beachfront home in Encinitas, Calif., is making headlines this week, with presale photos from the original listing hitting TMZ.com and other sites.

The home in North San Diego County was built in 1999 and was last listed for $4.25 million, according to real-estate website Zillow.com. White's new surf pad has private stair access to the beach; the house and surf break can be seen in the "Shaun White Backyard Surf Sessions" video released by GoPro in November, above.

"You're not really moving, the water is," White says in the video, comparing surfing to the boardsports for which he's better known. "I think a lot of times they underestimate that I can actually surf, but I love it. I think it's more of a peace-of-mind thing."
