A few items you may have missed that are worth a quick look:

• Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Thursday, sporting some haute hosiery. Griffin, the Heisman Trophy winner out of Baylor, detailed his upbringing in a military-family (his father saw action in Iraq) and said he keeps his Heisman Trophy at his parent’s house. And how did he celebrate winning that Heisman? “Me and my fiancee worked out at 2:30 in the morning.”
Griffin said he’s met President Obama and challenged him to a basketball game but the Commander in Chief politely declined. RGIII capped his visit with a quick “beat box” performance.

• Jose Canseco made his debut for the Worcester Tornadoes Thursday in Newark, N.J., striking out twice and walking twice in a 9-2 loss to the Bears. Canseco, 47, was heckled with a “steroids” chant by least one person in the crowd of several hundred. (Newark Star-Ledger)

• Call it: “Hard Knocks,” futbol style. Paul Greengrass, director of “Flight 93” and the “Bourne Ultimatium,” will produce a behind-the-scenes documentary about the legendary FC Barcelona soccer club as it prepares for the 2012-2013 campaign. (Los Angeles Times)

• “The Cardinal Way” isn’t just a motto in St. Louis, it’s an 86-page manual given to all minor-league players at the start of spring training, writes Derrick Goold. The handbook outlines items ranging from infield set-up to off-field responsibilities and team policies. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

• Talk about going deep. The 53rd South Atlantic League All-Star Game’s home run derby will be held June 18th on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown in Charleston, S.C., harbor. (WCSC-TV)
