When Season 14 of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" began a few months ago, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver was considered a favorite.
With the finals Monday night, Driver still is considered the favorite. But he's no shoo-in.
Latin hearth throb William Levy and opera singer Katherine Jenkins have wowed the judges and the audiences have responded. Both have been near the top all season.
“They are really good! William got 10s from judge Len Goodman the last few weeks, and Katherine has been one of the highest scorers week in and week out," Driver said. "It should be a lot of fun competing with them.”
Driver might be saying the politically correct things but, make no mistake, he does want to win.
“I don’t care if the judges give me perfect scores or not, as long as I win I’m good!” Driver said. "You can’t always control wins and losses, but you can always control your own effort.”
And on Monday's final, Driver and partner Peta Murgatroyd will be freestyling and taking orders from the judges. On Tuesday, it's more dancing and the results show.
There have been six athletes -- NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, Olympic champion Apolo Anton Ohno, IndyCar legend Hélio Castroneves, Olympic champion Kristi Yamaguchi, Olympic champion Shawn Johnson and former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward -- who have won the mirrorball trophy.
Will Driver get Packers Nation to flood the call-ins?
“They need to call 1-800-868-3403. Then do it again … then again … then again … then call once more. Then they can log onto ABC.com and vote five more times with each email address they have," Driver said. "They’ve been so great all season and I expect them to ramp it up even more for the finale!”
