Eli Manning, John Legend talk on charity

AP Photo/Bill KostrounNew York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will be among the celebrities at tonight's charity event.Eli Manning, Drew Brees and Dan Marino are among the celebrities attending Samsung's Hope for Children Gala on Monday night in New York City.
"This night is not about the Giants, Jets, Eagles or any team. We're there to support the cause," said Manning, who has won two Super Bowl rings for the New York Giants. "The stars will be out tonight, all hoping to make a difference."
In the past 11 years, Samsung Electronics America has helped more than 425 schools, community-based foundations and charities throughout the United States raise awareness of and funding for their causes of supporting education, health care and sustainability.
"It's all about creating a better way of living," Manning said. "People are there to make donations, and corporations who paid for tables are helping the cause also."
Other celebrities there include singer John Legend, former football coach Jimmy Johnson, Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes and NFL broadcaster Boomer Esiason.
"Investment in young people is going to pay off in the long run," Legend said. "If you put a lot of energy and time into something, you want to put it into something that will bear the fruits later."
