Amare Stoudemire gets engaged in Paris

New York Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire got engaged on Saturday to Alexis Welch, the mother of Stoudemire’s three children.

“I have been planning my proposal for a while and overlooking the entire Paris skyline seemed like a perfect place," Stoudemire said in a statement. "I am so happy she said 'Yes' and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife."

Stoudemire, who met Welch in 2002, made the proposal of the ring -- designed by celebrity jeweler Shayan Afshar -- while overlooking the Eiffel Tower outside their penthouse Le Meurice Hotel Belle Etoile Royal Suite.

The couple haven't set the specific date except to say it'll be in 2013.
