Japanese Sporting goods manufacturer Mizuno presented San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain with the traditional Japanese honor of an authentic samurai sword on Monday. Mizuno bestows the samurai sword honor to recognize the most significant athletic achievements of its Mizuno ambassadors, like Cain’s perfect game against the Houston Astros last Wednesday.

Other recipients have been Chipper Jones (2008 National League batting champion), Heather Tarr (2009 college women’s softball national champions), Bobby Cox (retirement), Zack Greinke (2009 Cy Young) and Dallas Braden (perfect game in 2010).

Also on Monday, Cain appeared on the "Late Show with David Letterman" for the top-10 list.
