Although he was born in Massachusetts, actor Matthew Perry considers himself all Canadian.

After his parents divorced, Perry was raised by his mother, Suzanne Jane Louise Morrison, in Ottawa.

"When you grow up in Ottawa, you have to love hockey -- even though we didn't have it then," Perry said. "We had to watch as the Montreal Canadians dominated everything and we hated them for that."

Perry moved to Los Angeles to be closer to his dad and then fell in love with the Los Angeles Kings.

So imagine when the Kings this year won the Stanley Cup.

"I still think I'm on a high from it, actually," Perry said. "It was the most exciting two months in sports for me. I'm 42. And the last two months are probably the most exciting time of my life."

And Perry hasn't come down from his cloud. He partied with the Kings after winning the Stanley Cup and he's in Las Vegas today to celebrate the 2012 NHL Awards at the Wynn Las Vegas. Actors Kevin Connolly, Colin Hanks and Joshua Jackson are among the other celebrities scheduled to attend.

The 2012 NHL Awards will honor the best regular-season players in a wide range of categories, including most valuable player (Hart Trophy), outstanding goaltender (Vezina Trophy), outstanding defenseman (Norris Trophy) and outstanding rookie (Calder Trophy); the Ted Lindsay Award and the Mark Messier Leadership Award also will be awarded.

Perry will enjoy his summer and head back to the small screen this fall as the lead of the NBC show "Go On" about a sportscaster who is in grief therapy. Ex-football player Terrell Owens also is in the pilot.
