It's not all "Hoosiers" in Indiana's small-town gyms, and filmmaker/author/magazine publisher/"This American Life" contributor Davy Rothbart is aiming to show that.

His documentary, currently in post-production, is called "Medora," and it tracks a small high school team in Southern Indiana as it simply tries to end its lengthy losing streak (44 games when filming began). It's something of a rural "Hoop Dreams," but with the promise of graduation and one lone win replacing the hope of a Division I scholarship.

Character actors extraordinaire Steve Buscemi and Stanley Tucci are on board as executive producers, while Rothbart and co-director Andrew Cohn are finishing up the project. They're looking for financing on their Kickstarter page, and they're nearing their goal.

Patrick Dorsey is a Los Angeles-based writer and editor for ESPN.com. He has worked for the Web and newspapers. He also played in one Division-III golf tournament (he shot 105).
