It has been quite a year for Victor Cruz. He began the 2011-12 NFL season as a borderline practice squad player, buried on the depth chart behind Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and Domenik Hixon. But thanks to injuries, the Giants' success, Cruz's talent and his ability to dance the salsa, Cruz is a now an NFL superstar.

And he wrote about the experience -- as well as his sometimes tumultuous upbringing -- in a new book called "Out of the Blue," which hit stores on Tuesday.

Jerritt Clark Radio host Peter Rosenberg, rapper Wale, Victor Cruz and Josh Groban hang out at Cruz's party.
To celebrate the release, Cruz teamed up with Hennessy to host a party in New York City on Monday night, inviting many of his celebrity friends. Some stars who made appearances at the party were rapper Wale, musician and actor Josh Groban, singer Eric Benet, actress Julissa Bermudez and DJ Kiss.

At the event, Cruz told reporters he wants readers to glean inspiration from his story.

"I want them to be able to pick up the book and know that no matter what you go through, no matter bumps in the road you face, you can climb yourself out of that hole and make it to your dreams," Cruz said.
