NEW YORK -- The party patrol revved up with the ESPN The Magazine Pre-Draft Party at the Waterfront in New York City.
More than 1,000 people -- including top pick Andrew Luck and likely No. 2 pick Robert Griffin III -- danced to the music of DJ Kiss and ate hors d'oeuvres. It was a great opportunity for the draftees to mingle with their families and other draftees.
Our report:
ESPN The Magazine NFL Pre-Draft Party
Why that title: ESPN's magazine throws several of the biggest sports parties, including this event, one for Super Bowl and one for ESPYs in the summer.
Where: The Waterfront (Terminal Stores) in Chelsea. The massive facility had athletes coming in on one side, on 11th Avenue, and guests coming in on the other side, 12th Avenue. Town cars were lined up.
Performers: DJ Kiss, who has a degree in mass communications from Louisiana State University, was using Jay-Z and Kanye West in heavy rotation. There was a lot of dancing. Even Robert Griffin III got up and danced with his family.
Celebrities we saw: Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Justin Blackmon, Quinton Coples, Victor Cruz, Eddie George, Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck and David Tyree. There was a large contingent of the players from the New York Giants, while the New York Jets were absent. That's because the Jets had an OTA -- Organized Team Activity -- at 6:30 a.m. this morning.
Food and drink: Items to eat were crab cakes, mini Cuban sandwiches, mini hamburgers, pigs in blanket, quesadillas and macaroni and cheese croquette. The drinks were Jim Beam Collins, Old Fashioned, Jim Beam Black Smooth and Sour and Jim Beam Black Citrus Sin.
Swag: Nothing. Most people were there to see and be seen.
Scouting report: This party is getting better and better each year. And there was a Tebow sighting near the end of the night. Robby Tebow, Tim's brother, showed up with Tim's agent, Jimmy Sexton. They made one pass through and left. That is the kind of night it was. Famous people were everywhere.
