NEW YORK -- Bob and Mike Bryan might know how to play doubles tennis better than anyone in the world.
Not so much.
"We don't even know how to hold a pan," Mike said.
"I'm limited to the toaster and the microwave," Bob said.
So that's why the Bryans, who just returned from winning gold medals at the London Olympic Games, decided to take part in the 13th annual BNP Paribas Taste of Tennis event on Thursday night.
The world’s top tennis players, including Serena Williams and world No. 1 player Victoria Azarenka, were cooking alongside some of the top chefs in New York. Proceeds from the Taste of Tennis benefit New York Junior Tennis League, the largest tennis and education-themed community organization in the United States serving more than 100,000 children a year.
"We heard this was going to be a great event and we wanted to be a part of it. We just wanted to try to cook a little better," Mike Bryan said. "And we definitely know how to eat."
The Bryans teamed with celebrity chef Gail Simmons to cook chicken pasta.
"This is a great way to kick off the U.S. Open," Simmons said, "and it's a great way to support charities that do a lot of good."
