Playbook had a few minutes with Los Angeles Clippers All-Star forward Blake Griffin, while he was making sandwiches to celebrate Subway's 47th birthday party.

Griffin was in a particularly good mood. Maybe because it was a typical sunny day in California. Or the fact that Griffin is healthy again. Or he was just full from sandwiches.

On his knee after surgery: "I'm definitely looking to get back on the court. No one will believe you until they see you out there. I'm not even worried what people think. I'm 100 percent. I'm putting in the work. I'm really prepared for training camp."

On the arrival of Dwight Howard in Los Angeles: "I don't know him really well, but I know he's a great guy and he's lighthearted. I'm sure we'll get along well. I'm glad to have him in town -- sort of."

On all his new teammates such as Jamal Crawford and Grant Hill: "We might need a potluck dinner. That might not be a bad idea. Everybody right now is all over the place. There are a lot of new faces. We'll jell pretty quickly. There is a lot of high character on this team. I'm looking forward to it."

On the fun he's had with promoting NBA 2K13, which comes out Oct. 2: "I don't get to play video games as much as I would like. When I do, it's all pretty much basketball or golf. Working with the promos was cool."
