Trending: Plenty of reaction to Eric Winston
Kansas City Chiefs tackle Eric Winston's reaction to fans who cheered when embattled teammate and QB Matt Cassel was injured Sunday triggered an equally passionate reaction across the NFL and social media.
After his postgame soliloquy, Winston continued expressing himself on Twitter:
Obviously i know not all 70k were cheering. And please don't act like the cheering started when Quinn came in.— Eric Winston (@ericwinston) October 7, 2012
He found plenty of supporters among sports columnists and bloggers, as well as on Twitter:
I won't RT some of the mentions I got but I encourage people to go thru them. To the vast majority of you, thank you for the support!!— Eric Winston (@ericwinston) October 7, 2012
Completely agree with my friend @ericwinston. If you're a Chiefs fan & you cheered Cassel getting hurt & leaving game, you're a sick person— Josh Abbott (@joshabbottband) October 7, 2012
As disappointed as I was at the Canes performance sat night, the opposite pride I felt in my friend/x cane Eric Winston Support yesterday— Bernie Kosar (@BernieKosarQB) October 8, 2012
About 75 percent of those responding in a Kansas City Star online poll agreed with Winston’s remarks as of Monday morning.
Meanwhile, several critics of Winston’s assessment of Kansas City fans spoke out on Twitter:
Eric Winston lost all perspective. Fans don't want Cassel to get in a car wreck. They wanted him off the field. Not any deeper than that.— TheFilmRoom (@TheFilmRoom) October 7, 2012
Eric Winston's upset at the Chiefs fans?! Two players I promise you no Texans fans have missed at all this year: Winston and Mario Williams.— P. Schrager (@PSchrags) October 7, 2012
Those of you who agreed with Winston's theatrical exaggeration, enjoy your new nat'l reputation, which is basically baby eater. #chiefs— Matt Galloway (@themattgalloway) October 8, 2012
In this case, it was indeed sunnier in Philadelphia:

So Philly fans struck twice this week, thowing bottles in Atlanta & cheering Matt Cassel's concussion in KC. Because only we do that stuff.— Geoff Crawley (@PhillyFansVoice) October 8, 2012
