Jerod Mayo does random acts of kindness
By Lynn Hoppes
Jared from Subway and Patriots LB Jerod Mayo surprise drivers on the Mass Pike Tuesday morning.
New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo received a lot of praise Monday night after leading his defense with seven tackles in the 42-14 drubbing of the Houston Texans.
But on Tuesday, Mayo was more in the giving mood, helping Jared "The Subway Guy" Fogle perform 12 random acts of kindness throughout the Boston area. December is Subway's Customer Appreciation Month.
The duo delivered gift cards and helped people pay their groceries and car tolls.
"At first people were scared when we walked up to them, but then they realized we were there to help," said Mayo, a fifth-year linebacker from Tennessee. "We were able to help put something underneath their Christmas trees and put some smiles on people's faces."
What would have been the Boston reaction if the Patriots had lost to the Texans?
"Maybe a little differently," Mayo said, "but who is going to turn down free subs and free tolls and free groceries!"
