Orlando attorney wants Tim Tebow in Jax

Orlando-based attorney John Morgan has joined the campaign to bring unemployed NFL quarterback Tim Tebow to Jacksonville.

Morgan, whose ad campaigns carry the moniker “For the People,” lays out the case that it would be in the best interest of the Jacksonville franchise, its owner Shahid Khan and its fans to bring Tebow home in a Jaguars uniform. Tebow played for nearby Nease High School in Ponte Vedra, Fla., and at the University of Florida.

“Here’s the evidence: Tim Tebow played on two national championship teams. He won the Heisman as the best college player in the country and was drafted in the first round by the Denver Broncos. Somebody knew something,” says Morgan in the ad posted on his firm’s YouTube channel.

Morgan, a member of the Florida Bar for 30 years and a University of Florida graduate, then reminds Jacksonville fans that their team has a 27-42 record in the past five years, one of the worst records in the league, with “more in store” this year.

While Tebow is still unemployed in football, he remains one of the top NFL players in terms of social media presence. Tebow’s 2.23 million Twitter followers rank him behind only Reggie Bush (2.8 million) and fellow free-agent Chad Johnson (4.4 million). Tebow also carries the distinction of being named on Monday as America’s most influential athlete by Forbes Magazine . That could be another argument for Morgan to make in his next ad supporting Tebow.

Meanwhile, one of Tebow’s potential replacements in New York, Geno Smith, was the most talked-about player during the NFL draft and its aftermath on social and digital media. That honor came despite the fact that Smith wasn’t chosen until the second round (the 39th overall pick).

Smith has not posted anything on his @GenoSmith_12 account since April 25, save for a lone retweet.

During the draft, Smith received 70 percent more Twitter mentions (264,992) than the No. 2 player, Manti Te'o. Those figures are from iProspect, a digital marketing and consulting firm measured that measured buzz from the start of the draft on Thursday through the Sunday after the draft.

Smith spoke earlier this week about various issues surrounding his actions during the draft and the situation surrounding his hiring of a new agent. His 39,000-plus Twitter followers, meanwhile, have been left in the dark.

The athletic canines competed in a variety of events, including high-flying disc routines, head-to-head weave pole racing, large and small dog agility courses, Jack Russell hurdle racing and dog diving.
