Martinez will travel the country searching for the best meats. It sounds like a show similar to "Man v. Food" but it's not an all-you-can-eat feast.
"Listen, I can get down and eat, bro, but it's nothing crazy. It's not a food-eating contest," Martinez said. "I'm just so lucky to have this opportunity to taste some amazing food. It was the best experience of my life."
The show, with back-to-back episodes at 10 p.m. ET, will venture from Texas to North Carolina to Los Angeles to Kansas City and meet the characters along the way.
"A lot of these cities are new locations for me and it was a great opportunity," Martinez said. "It was an amazing time. I'm a fan of the Travel Channel shows and here I am traveling the country."
Martinez was raised in East Los Angeles -- he said in "especially humble beginnings" -- and went to high school and college in Arizona. He even dabbled in junior college football until injuring his back.
"I'm not sure if it was a blessing or God's will, but the injury pushed me back into radio," said Martinez, who is a host on one of the nation's top stations, 102.7 KIIS FM. "It's gone pretty well ever since, and now I'm getting the chance to eat some of the best barbecue in the country. This new gig definitely does not suck."
