Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is cleaning up his look.
"I'm hoping to move from trainee to an eventual graduate when it comes to clothes," said Stafford, who is in his fourth season with the Lions. "I think I'm going in the right direction. I do like looking good going to parties."
Stafford was born in Tampa, Fla., lived in Georgia and eventually moved to Dallas. He mostly was a jeans and pullover type of guy. Until he hit the NFL.
Then he saw how the greats dressed at events, post-game news conferences and even at casual settings.
"As a youngster, I looked up to all these icons and was watching their style. They knew how to look good," Stafford said. "So I joined up with Van Heusen, and they are helping me dress for Super Bowl parties, ESPYS and other events like that."
Although it's Fashion Week in New York, Stafford isn't ready to create his own line of clothing or even model.
"I don't think I have the body type to do runway. I just enjoy putting the clothes on and having fun," he said. "At this point, I need to focus at what's going on between the lines of the football field."
