Cheryl Burke talks Emmitt Smith, 'Dancing'
By Lynn Hoppes
Cheryl Burke said Emmitt Smith was a little rusty when he returned to the dance floor this season.
Cheryl Burke, dance partner of football Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, said a lot has changed since the duo won the "Dancing with the Stars" crown in 2006.
"The level of dancing has gone up tremendously," said Burke, who has competed since Season 2 and has won two titles. "Also, social media wasn't as big as it is today. Now we have other avenues to ask people for their support."
Burke and Smith are considered the favorites this season of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars," leading after the first week. The other athletes on the show are IndyCar driver Helio Castroneves, Olympic champion gymnast Shawn Johnson and Olympic champion speedskater Apolo Ohno.
On Monday night's show, Burke and Smith will dance the quickstep. Dancers have to do that routine or the jive.
Burke said despite being paired again with Smith "with the brother-sister rapport," they have a tough road ahead to win the mirror ball trophy.
"This season is hard to predict. I have no idea how it will turn out," Burke said. " I don't think it's unfair that we're together again. If anything, it's more of a challenge. People will expect us to step up the choreography. We have no honeymoon stage."
