Will Apolo Ohno be safe on 'Dancing?'
By Lynn Hoppes
Could the fall by professional dancer Karina Smirnoff doom Olympic speedskater Apolo Ohno on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars?"
On Monday's live show, Smirnoff slipped in the middle of the hip-hop routine to Bell Biv DeVoe's "Poison" and was visibly upset throughout the rest of the night.
Those are the kinds of mistakes that can send a couple home on the dance-elimination show.
The judges were kind, and the duo scored 34.5 points out of a possible 40. (Paula Abdul was an additional judge to the original three.)
Those weren't the worst scores of the night. Those went to Bristol Palin (32) and Kirstie Alley (30), but they've been at the bottom before and have survived.
"I decided to throw in a karate-kick move in the middle of our routine, which was completely unrehearsed and uninvited ... " Smirnoff told reporters after the show. "I want to be the best that I can be for him. I don’t want to be the thing that pulls him down. I kicked my leg really high and my body went up in the air and then I was laying down on the ground.”
