Sunday is Veterans Day, a time to honor all who have served in the military.

Among those many veterans: a number of athletes, a large number of athletes, who often put their careers aside to help protect the United States of America.

So, to celebrate these former and, in some cases, current servicemen and servicewomen, Playbook has put together a gallery of some -- but far from all -- of the athletes who put on a different kind of uniform, often far away from the playing field (such as Tim James, pictured).
