What helped New Jersey avoid a four-game Stanley Cup finals sweep against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night?

Check the tape (above).

You see, Ryan Carter -- 28-year-old center for the Devils -- openly acknowledges his inability to grow a playoff beard. So he's gone full 'stache, something a once-goateed Adam Henrique decided to mimic for Game 4.

And for those who don't know, Henrique scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes left.

The power of the mustache, indeed.
