June 12, 1997: It wasn't universally loved -- still isn't -- but on this day 15 years ago, the American League and National League started regularly playing regular-season games against each other.

First up: the San Francisco Giants and host Texas Rangers, who sure knew how to commemorate the moment; legends Willie Mays and Nolan Ryan each threw out first pitches.
