Sports' Twitter record broken again (charts)

Tim Tebow did it. The Super Bowl did it. And now, the Euro 2012 final between Spain and Italy did it -- set the record for most tweets per second (15,358 on Sunday) during a sporting event.
It still fell well short of the overall record, which we'll get to later. First, look at a number of games that were among the most tweeted:

And here's how it lands among some of the most-tweeted news events, with December's reairing of Hayao Miyazaki's anime film "Laputa: Castle in the Sky" holding the record at an astonishing 25,088 tweets per second:
One can only wonder: Will sports finally catch the Miyazaki film? And which event will do it?
