That this is an entire soccer match is not the only impressive thing about this time-lapse video, which comes from the New England Revolution's 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday. (Note: The Red Bulls also made their own time-lapse clip not long ago.)

Thing is, this clip -- which spans from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and shows pregame, kickoff, the sunset and the (inaudible) final whistle -- was shot entirely on an iPad2, and put together using the iMotion HD app. It was a last-minute decision, too; Revolution digital content manager Jason Dalrymple long had wanted to experiment with time lapse, but didn't remember it until about 5:45 p.m. Sunday (kickoff was 7).

So, according to Dalrymple, he quickly set up his iPad in the press box, simply using a basic case and the press box window for support. A few hours later he had his footage. A few more hours of post-production and he had the video above.

Ah, technology.
Patrick Dorsey works for SportsNation. He has worked for the Web and newspapers, had a cup of craft service coffee in film school, and played in one Division III golf tournament (he shot 105).
